The Best Butterfly Books for Kids is a consortium of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends and family, educators and para-educators, collectively known as “Merri.”
Merri’s goal is simply to produce the premier list of North America’s Best Butterfly Books for English-speaking Kids.

When we teach kids about butterflies, they may grow up trying to keep the world full of butterflies. Merri doesn’t want anything to become extinct, and neither do kids!
The prevention of extinction for any species requires widespread knowledge. Merri believes this knowledge should start early; as early as possible. It turns out that’s OK, because kids love butterflies! Everybody loves butterflies!
With bookstores disappearing from the planet, physical books could become more rare over time. Yet books may be the only way we can retain specialized knowledge in the future.
With smart phones and social media taking control of all knowledge input, physical books may be the last way to educate people in the event of a system-wide collapse of such devices. Yet, even in the midst of such a catastrophic event, kids would want to learn about butterflies! That’s why Merri loves kids!
